The Birch Tree

Deon has had a birch tree in her front yard ever since they moved into that house around 20 years ago. She loved the tree. Watered it, read to it, sang to it (well, not really on the last two) so she was so sad when it became apparent that the tree was dead. She got some friends over to help her cut it down on Monday. There were two men who had experience with cutting down huge trees and me and Ryan. The initial plan was for the wives of the two men, Deon, and me to go get sushi or something. Well, there was no way I was going to miss out on the action, and Deon I think felt compelled to stay as well. My job was to drag the huge branches the guys cut down off of the grass and into the driveway, then use some mega super clippers along with a hand saw to cut the branches down into piles for the wood chipper, into firewood, and/or into the bigger stumps for the chain saw to cut down later. After hours of that, I felt so powerful. It was not easy to cut through some of those branches, but I am woman, I am invisible, and guys, I ROARED!
So, at the end, I was quite tired, but quite looking forward to that awesome "day after strenuous activity" muscle soreness. I don't know what it is about muscle soreness, but it makes me feel like I really accomplished something and that I'll get stronger as a result. The next day (yesterday), I wasn't soar at all. I didn't know whether to feel disappointed, or just proud that apparently all the hard work had been no prob' for my guns. I went out for a longish, hilly run, and today I was sore.
I love you all so much!
