Notes

Nora is changing so quickly.  She had an appointment a few weeks ago, and weighed in at 15 lbs 8 oz and is 25 1/2 inches long.  She keeps growing out of her jammies.  Stuff that fit 2 weeks ago without a problem no longer work.

She is becoming more and more interactive.  She beams when one of us enters a room and reaches for us (queue Gma Mackelprang).  She has recently figured out that she likes to be held.  Not only that, but you must hold her while standing up and walking around.  And she must be facing forward so she can take in the world.  Cute to be sure, but gets old quickly when one's arms are tired and work needs to get done.

Her hand-eye coordination is improving by the day.  She grabs anything within reach and promptly puts it in her mouth.  This morning she had a poop-splosion.  Changing her diaper was incredibly difficult because she kept trying to dip her feet in it, put her hands in it, and then put both into her mouth.  I managed to get fair amount on me trying to keep her hands and feet out of her diaper and out of her mouth.  Of course, she grinned and giggled the entire time.

I was in the toy store yesterday and caught a glimpse into my future.  A mother purchased a little boy some toys, and the little boy managed to convince the store owner to gift wrap the toys for him.  The little boy ran over to his mother and yelled "I'm so excited, I could pull down my pants!"  The mother looked at him and said "don't."  I was in the next isle, doubled over with laughter.

  1. Its interesting to watch little ones learn to manipulate their environment and then the people in it. It's fun when a mother and father are recognized as special, apart from other people and objects in the room. You probably never imagined that changing a diaper could be a 2 person job. (You needed a 2nd person, I think) Your stories made me laugh. Thanks for the updates.

  2. I loved reading this! It's so fun to hear about the new things that Nora is doing and learning. I love that she recognizes you and Scott as the special people in her life (but does she smile at Marlo as well?). The toy store story is fantastic. I think there have been times when we all have been so excited we could pull down our pants :)
